The Great Transition: Humanity at the Tipping Point – Part One

Evolutionary Responses to Global Challenges?

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recently described the unprecedented changes facing the world today. “Throughout the ages, people have said that the world is in the midst of big change. But the level and degree of global change that we face today is far more profound than at any other period in my adult lifetime. I call this period the Great Transition.”

Gary’s comment:

I’ll be traveling home to Western North Carolina while this is happening, but if any of you are in New York and can attend this meeting, I’d love to hear your take on what is being offered here and from what perspective(s) the general meeting and the individual speakers will be coming from.

What is the general message here and is anyone proposing specific actions to be taken? Who’s listening? More, who’s paying attention and getting on board? Are the major industrial countries attending, listening? Is there any recognition whatsover on the newest science around Global warming and extinction-level Catastrophic Climate Change?

I’ll be writing more about this, and what needs to happen and sadly probably won’t, in Part Two.

May 15th, 2014 Update: Nothing has changed, nothing is really being done, industrial civilization is still humming along like there is no tomorrow…unfortunate choice of words, but probably true. Oh, the U.N. has put out a report that says we’re in deep doo-doo, but no one’s paying attention. Thje White House followed suit, but it is too deeply owned by the powers that be to actually have an impact of any sort. NASA, NOAA, and even the US Navy have basically said the same things since this article was written, and yet, nothing is happening, nada, zip….and still people think I’m being negative. Oh, well….
